Welcome to Baphomart!

Getting started can feel a little overwhelming, but in this guide we will walk you through the basics to launching your shop and provide you with some helpful resources on growing your shop, providing great customer service and getting your items delivered. In part one we have some useful tips for the beginners in helping you setting up your shop…

Setting up shop

Choosing your Baphomart shop name:

Your shop name is the cornerstone of your branding. It’s time to brainstorm! Is your name descriptive? Suggestive? Abstract? Your own name?

Once you have found a name it’s worth doing a google search just to check it’s available and not being used by someone else. Ask friends what they think and get some feedback. Remember to use the same name everywhere; on your Baphomart shop, in your cover photo and icon, and on your blog and social media. Once you have decided on your shop name, take advantage of capital letters to make the appearance of your shop name more legible.

If you have more than one word it helps to create visual separation.
For example, ‘TheWonderfulShopOfWands’ – Good luck brainstorming!

Customising your aesthetics:

Your storefront is the first impression your brand will make on potential customers. Capture their attention, inspire buyer confidence and loyalty but have a strong cohesive visual story. Carefully select and incorporate your colours, font and photo styles that connect with your brand identity.

Design a shop logo:

You should choose a design that will represent your shop throughout the site. Is it scaleable, will it look good when it’s size is reduced to fit the shop icon display? Is it an image or text? Or you could use your own profile photo to lend credibility and trust.

Design a banner:

This will be on top of your shop as the most prominent graphic so crete an image to grab buyers interest. Keep it professional! The dimensions are 625 x 300 pixels. Use photographs of your collection or highlights, don’t use too much text (remember to centre it for mobile viewers), keep it creative! You can also use the banner to announce special occasions or milestones.

Presenting your items:

Visually keep aligned to your shop aesthetics when you shoot your products. Add plenty of photos of your items from all perspectives. Keep the style of photos consistant across all your items.

Fill in your shop about section:

Let them know why you started your business, give your story depth and dimension, your creative process, your favourite items, show them you are a real human being and trustworthy.

Now you have created some character and personality to your shop. In the next article, we will discuss creating product listings that will sell!
