At the very start of the pandemic in 2020, before we were in lockdown, I was sitting on a beach in Thailand, reading about Marie Laveau. The Lockdowns were emerging in China and everyone around the world was watching. I discovered that Marie Laveau lived through the terrible Yellow Fever pandemic in 1853. She was a fever nurse and herbalist and was able to treat many people back to health. I found her story inspiring and decided to make mojo bags similar to hers as gifts to friends and family. When we were thrown into lockdown I needed something to take my mind off losing my gigs as a musician so Voodoo Bones Boutique was born.

We have just announced our brand new album ‘Voodoo Bones & Vaudeville Blues’. It’s Twelve new songs that combine 1930’s voodoo sounds with a steamy broth of vaudeville, blues, rock and roll, calypso, and old-timey country.
Voodoo has found its way onto the British shores and Jo Carley is the voodoo queen sent to predict hell in a way to entertain and amaze you. This demonic music-hall mistress tells tales of terror in old-timey fashion.
